Some people think the main purpose of schools is to turn the children into good citizens and workers, rather than to benefit them as individuals.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? (freedom, democracy)
1. In my view the two are not mutually exclusive. It is by helping children develop their own mores and principles, as well as instilling in them knowledge needed for good employees, that teachers best prepare children for the future life.
2. One of the aims of education is to make young people good civilians. Ours is a world of freedom and democracy, the rights and needs of the individual should be put on the top of governments’ list. But we should always bear in mind that the feeling of euphoria of a person is firmly depended on the stability and harmony of the society.
3. Another equally important purpose of education is to benefit people as individuals. Nothing else than individual ownership can be more effective for a man to exert his or her inner power.
4. In order for the far ranging benefits of education to be achieved by individuals and countries, educators must emphasize the significance of education for the society as a whole, as well as for a person as the individual.
